August Update from Kayla

Hey y'all! It's your hostess Kayla with an update on where I am and what I'm doing.

So basically, my family and I have decided to take a pause on traveling for the summer. We've honestly been pretty stressed out since January (when crypto crashed lol), and we were in need of a break.

Unfortunately, this break included staying in Oklahoma. If you've listened to the podcast you know how I feel about my hometown 😅

We parked in late June and plan to be here til October (and plan on going to the balloon fiesta right after!).

Luckily, we aren't totally bored here! My Nana owns a non-profit called Bethel Foundation, which provides food, clothes, and household items to anyone in need. She broke her hip back in February though, so she's been very overworked these past few months.

This was another reason we decided to pause, because we knew Bethel could use our help. So we've been implementing some new systems for them to run more smoothly and efficiently. I built them a new website (bethelfoundation.org), my mom and I have been capturing content, my sister has been helping sort donations at the office, and my dad has been setting up digital workplaces for the staff.

It's been a long process, but improvement is noticeable and hopefully more will come soon. Our end goal is to build a new warehouse, because right now they are out of room. Seriously, it's bad. The office looks straight out of Hoarders. They are just constantly giving out and getting donations, giving, and getting, giving and getting, over and over again, and there's just no room or process anymore. (We are working on that)

So if you have any desire to donate to charity, please consider Bethel. Small non-profits need help way more than the Humane Society or United Way.

Anyway, so that's what I've been doing. Working. Feeling hot 🥵. Missing the mountains...

Hope you're having more fun than me! Elizabeth's been in Arkansas for the summer and hasn't been up to much either. No comment from her this month.
