Woo! A real travel post! Long time no see 😅

As y'all know we just got back on the road, if only for a month. We've been in Oklahoma for 4 months and we're definitely ready for a break!

First stop: Albuquerque for the Balloon Fiesta!

This has been on our bucket list for forever. Earlier this year we booked one of the last RV spots in the entire park, and somehow we got one of the best places!

Our back porch was facing a big field, where the balloons sometimes land after they launch!

So day one of course, we had two balloons stop by our field.

The pilots were super nice, and we even got to help pack up the balloons! Plus for being good helpers we got some collectible pins :)

That evening we tried to go see the evening session (where the balloons light their fires for what's called a Glow Night), but it got rained out ☹️

Kinda sad, but we decided to go to the morning session the next day to see them all launch.

So, at 4:30 am we trudge to the shuttle, wait in line, then walk to see the Dawn Patrol.

(Dawn patrol is where a few balloons go up to assess the weather before the rest take off, just in case there's excessive wind or rain in the area)

After that amazing takeoff, we got a green flag, which means the rest of the balloons are clear for launch!

At this point, my fam and I are zigzagging from balloon to balloon to get their collectible balloon cards! Each balloon has one, and their super cool little souvenirs that are totally free! (Well, prepaid with admission)

We each got hefty stacks 😎

One of the best parts about this event is that this balloon fiesta is one of the few in the world where you can walk amongst the balloons as they set up!

The views were amazing! Plus I got to take my first Polaroid pic 😄

I'd say that my expectations for this Fiesta were exceeded! I don't know if you could ever get tired of being there, watching the balloons inflate, light up, and float away.

I seriously hope we can go next year! Hopefully, there will be better weather.

Au Revoir

-R.D.

PS

The balloon fires scared the living daylights out of him 😂

Change of plans…

In my last post i mentioned that we would be going to Oregon. In fact, we were planning on spending all summer in the Pacific Northwest...

Awesome post Kayla. Great pics. Poor Bear. Looks scared. Tail all tucked in. 😁
