Mesa Verde

Its hard to imagine that hundreds of years ago, some people actually lived in the side of a cliff.

Ancient Pueblans didn't have much to live by. They had no AC (trust me, they would have wanted it), no roads to get around on, and no abundance of food or water, but they did have an excellent shelter that has obviously stood the test of time. Even though we could only see it from afar (the park was under road construction), it was still apparent the importance and history of this ancestral village. Not only did we see the site, but the drive to it was just lovely.

This canyon is called the Canyon of the Ancients, where there are ancient pueblos scattered all over the area. The park had an informative visitor center with a cool cat statue in the front.

I think I’ll name him Jack.
A few of the pit houses you could walk around in so we looked around one of em.
The entire drive had sage along the side of the road. Fun fact: it smells like Mod Podge (Top left).
To conclude our day of course, we saw a rainbow.

You can even see a little violet at the top 😌.
If you want to learn more about Mesa Verde or Canyon of the Ancients, here’s a handy link for you (kudos to you if you actually click it and learn something).
Thanks and see y’all next time.
