How have I had two birthday blog posts already?? Unbelievable. I swear we live in a time warp.
I left off in our travels after we visited Cheyenne and since then it has been an amazing few weeks! Wyoming is truly one-of-a-kind.
The eastern half of Wyoming is just sooo vast. Literally, you can go 50 miles and not run into a single tree (much less an actual human being). What else can you expect from the least populated state? Yes, less populated than Alaska.

A lot of the boondocking spots that were around the Grand Tetons were only 5-day-maximum stays, and obviously, that wasn't nearly enough time, but we did manage to find one 14-day spot (even though it was a lot farther away).
Worth the drive though! It's such a pretty spot 🥰

We spent 3 full days in the National Park, one on my birthday, one on a bike trail, and one on Hike Torture as I like to call it.
Birthday whoooo!
What a lovely day! A great way to start the 17th year I'd say.
First, we went to the visitor's centers, of course, and got merch and stamps and such.
Then we took a lovely hike at Colter Bay. It was raining ever so slightly, which was very dreamlike in the woods.

After that, we just drove all around, and at dusk, we saw 4 moose!
Biking Jenny Lake
Does a bike trail get any better than when it is lined with flowers? I don't think it does.

We ended up biking a total of 14 miles, which seems like a lot but it wasn't that bad. We biked from the Taggart Lake parking lot to Jenny Lake and back.
Hike Torture
We took the Jenny Lake loop trail all the way to Hidden Falls, Inspiration Loint, and even a bit into Cascade Canyon.
7. Miles.
The longest hike we've ever taken was 5 miles, back in Glacier around St Mary Lake.
This hike was so long in fact that we had to get up at 5 AM so that we could:
A. See the sunrise
B. Beat that crowded parking lot goers
Even though we got there at like 8, it was still super hot. And my idea of a hike does not involve getting up that early. I value my sleep too much.

So enthused.
The hike from the parking lot to Hidden falls was nice, wooded, and pretty. The waterfall was very large and cool.
Going up to Inspiration Point was when it got really rocky and unpleasant. The view was nice, sure, but worth the trek? Not in my opinion. If we took the ferry across the lake then yeah, but we hiked.
Then my dad wanted to continue going into Cascade Canyon. Urf. Granted, there was a bull moose on the way and that was awesome. He was lookin at us all sus 😂
Even to that point we were all fine. It was the way back that was just torture. Alas though, such is life. Hopefully this was scarring enough that we won't take any more 5+ miles hikes 😅
And that completes our tour of the Grand Tetons! Be sure to check out our podcast about it that'll release next Friday.
Until then, au revoir!
