And now to cross off another state on the checklist- Kansas- the sunflower, wheat, flat state.
After a couple of weeks in Oklahoma and Texas (in summer 🥵) we have begun our journey back west! Man, did we miss it so!
On our way to the Grand Tetons, we decided to take the north-then-west route through Kansas, and while it was short, it was pleasant! Honestly, it was surprising how stereotypical it was- literally sunflowers, wheat fields, and pretty sunsets were our entire experience.
So after scratching off the sunflower state, we took a day to visit Cheyenne, the capital of Wyoming.
Cheyenne was also surprising, not because of its stereotypicalness, but because it was very quaint and pleasant! Not at all what you'd expect from a capital city. It 100% felt like any old Colorado railroad town.
Unfortunately, we made our visit one week after Frontier Days, the town's biggest festival. Perhaps it was a good thing though because we were told that 250,000 people came! There were still decorations up and everything, so that was nice too.
After Cheyenne we finished our drive through Wyoming! Soon we'll be exploring the Grand Tetons and *someone* turns 17!!!
See you there!
