Trails of Telluride

One of the best things about Telluride is that there is always something to do outside. Obviously in the winter, skiing would be the best option, but when the snow melts, numerous trails are available for bikers and hikers alike. We we’re able to do quite a few hikes during our stay, and I wanted to compile the best ones.
Ridge Trail
Located in Mountain Village, this two mile hike takes you through an aspen forest and up the mountain. While mostly uphill, the incline isn’t too bad and the views are gorgeous. If you’re a flat lander like us and you were out of breath and energy at the top, you can take the gondola back down to MV.
Telluride River Trail
This was probably the prettiest and easiest trail. Spanning 4 miles, with minimal hills, you can take this trail as far and long as you want. You can bike it too, just be careful not to slide off the gravel path.
Keystone Loop/Galloping Goose
This trail built some character. The first half was all downhill, and after crossing a bridge it was all uphill. At times our path turned into a boulder pile, or was only held up with planks, or was really narrow and scary. We barely made it to the truck before dark, and we were very glad we did. Don’t bring pets or anyone under ten if you don’t want to see them slide into the river below.
That’s all for today folks. This was our last weekend in Telluride, next week we’ll be in Montrose, hopefully seeing the Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP and perhaps going on a river.
Thanks and feel free to share
