Wildlife of the Week

Here in Telluride and the surrounding area, the flora and fauna are so abundant and beautiful.
This here is an American Pika. They are part of the rabbit family, live in what are called Boulder Fields (at the top of the Rockies), and squeak to their fellow rodents when danger is near.

Their fur camouflages amazingly with their environment. Can you find him?

The Pikas also have a bigger cousin, the Marmot. They also live in high elevation and this one likes his first-world-amenities.

When you first drive into Telluride, there is a big field to your right. This land is actually protected by the town, and is home to a herd of elk.

Deer here are very populated, we see them on the side of the road each night; while on a walk we saw the cutest fawn crossing the river.
So precious.
This is a Red Shouldered Blackbird. He was hanging out by the river.

And also the many wildflowers deserve some love and attention. Y’all tell me which one’s your favorite.
I included moss because moss is cool too.
If you liked this week’s wildlife be sure to like or comment, either works. And if you aren’t too terribly busy go ahead and join Road Duchess with the Spaces by Wix app.
